Vonda Mishler will present music for the 10 a.m. Sunday service at Butler Church of the Nazarene, 4410 Oakdale Road.

Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road, Butler Township, is collecting items for care packages for soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq. The packages will include food, leisure and practical items.The Covenant Food Cupboard is seeking contributions of tuna, noodles and other food items for the month of January.

Christ's Outreach Church, 120 Walker Ave., will hold a second teacher training day on Feb. 3.The staff will prepare the Jan. 23 fellowship dinner.

Donations for the Shrove Tuesday Silent Auction at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St., are being received. Gift certificates, handmade items and gift baskets will be auctioned at the Feb. 5 pancake supper.

The Rev. Steve Haasch, a representative of Campus Light Ministries, will be the featured speaker at both Sunday services at First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St.Sunday's 10:55 a.m. service will be followed by a church luncheon and an afternoon service. There will be no evening service.

The Council Retreat at First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St., will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon Saturday.The Annual Congregational Meeting will be held at noon Sunday.The Junior Youth meeting will be at 12:30 p.m. Sunday.The Women of First English Lutheran Church will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday for a Bible study, tureen dinner and white elephant sale. An offering will be collected.

The youth of Grace @ Calvary Lutheran Church, 123 E. Diamond St., will gather for a lock-in Friday. Participants should arrive at 9 p.m. and can be picked up at 7 a.m. Saturday. Those attending should take a sleeping bag, pillow and snacks or drinks.The 2007 Contribution Statement will be available Sunday in the narthex.Alter Guild volunteers are needed for 2008, no experience is needed. The Praise Team will sing at the 6 p.m. Saturday and 10:30 a.m. Sunday services of Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St.The women's book discussion group will meet at 1 p.m. Monday in the Hall Memorial Lounge. Lorma Hill will lead the discussion on the book "Suite Francaise."The Rev. The congregation of North Main Street Church of God, 1201 N. Main St. Ext., Butler Township, will hold its annual meeting after the Sunday service.The Noah's Park ministry, for children age 4 through grade 5, will view the Veggie Tales movie, "The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything," Saturday at the Moraine Pointe Regal Cinema. Participants must be accompanied by an adult and can be signed up in Noah's Park.

The Church Growth Team of Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars, will meet after worship this week.A breakfast for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Mars United Presbyterian Church.In observance of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, the Rev. Bob Martin, of Valencia United Methodist Church, will lead the Sunday service while the Rev. Peter de Vries will lead worship at the Valencia church.The Evans City Food Cupboard needs paper products and baby products for January.

Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Jefferson St., will hold its annual Service of Remembrance Sunday. Church members who died in 2007 will be remembered.Weekly K.I.C.K. meetings will resume at 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 23.Volunteers are needed to assist the deacons in their ministry of preparing and serving funeral dinners which are oftentimes scheduled quickly. The Hospitality and Church Growth committees will meet together at 7 p.m. today at St. John's United Church of Christ, 501 E. Information on the Alpha Marriage Course at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 218 E. Students in grades 6 to 8 from St. Richard Roman Catholic Church, 3841 Dickey Road, Gibsonia, will participate in the Catholic Vision of Love retreat, "The Real World — North Pittsburgh," Sunday at the church. The retreat will begin at 1:15 p.m. and end at 5:15 p.m. The morality program focuses on human sexuality and the family.
