1-vehicle crash injures driver
WINFIELD TWP — The driver of a pickup was sent to a hospital following a crash around noon Sunday on Winfield Road.
The driver was taken by Saxonburg Ambulance to a nearby hospital for evaluation of suspected minor injuries, according to state police.
When Butler County 911 dispatchers initially sent crews into action, they advised the driver may have been trapped in the vehicle.
Firefighters said when they arrived on the scene, they found the truck with heavy front-end damage. They said they believe the truck struck a tree, went down an embankment and into the yard of a home on the 1100 block of Winfield Road.
Firefighters said the driver was able to exit the vehicle by himself and was able to walk into an ambulance.
Firefighters from Buffalo Township and Saxonburg assisted by restricting traffic to one lane along the narrow road.
Firefighters cleared the scene at 12:44 p.m., leaving state police to continue their investigation while waiting for a tow truck to arrive.
