Inge, Pirates agree on deal
BRADENTON, Fla. — Veteran infielder Brandon Inge has agreed to a minor league contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates and an invitation to spring training.
Inge, 35, played 83 games last season — all but nine with Oakland — and hit .218 with 12 homers and 54 RBI. He was released by Detroit last April.
Inge did not play a game after Sept. 1 last season, missing the playoffs after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder.
He hit .288 in 23 playoff games with Detroit in 2006 and 2011.
