ZELIENOPLE — A vehicle stuck in a resident’s yard led to drug charges against an Evans City man.

Christopher J. Lippold, 20, had several charges held for court Tuesday stemming from an incident on the night of Jan. 8.

Police say Lippold was trying to turn around on Peach Street, but ended up about 30 feet off the road into a yard and became stuck.

Court papers state Lippold “appeared confused at times” and his responses “seemed slow.”

Lippold denied drinking or taking drugs. However, he failed a field sobriety test.

Police said that when they asked if there was anything illegal in his vehicle, Lippold said yes, but did not want officers inside the vehicle.

Before having the vehicle towed, police noticed a baggie between the center console and the passenger seat containing several marijuana buds. The buds totaled about half an ounce.

More marijuana and a glass pipe containing residue was found in the vehicle’s center console. More pipes, grinders, rolling papers and baggies were also recovered from the vehicle.

Lippold told police he was returning from a hospital and was “going grocery shopping,” reports state. He also told police he smoked about a quarter-ounce of marijuana.

Lippold faces three charges for driving under the influence, one charge for possession of marijuana, and six charges for use or possession of drug paraphernalia. All the aforementioned charges are misdemeanors.

It is unknown if the owners of the Peach Street yard will file suit for damages. Borough police Chief Jim Miller said they can file in the police’s reports or take their case to the local district judge’s office as a civil case.

Lippold will be arraigned in county court on June 5.
