Scoop eyes perfection with Week 6 picks

One-loss weeks are very frustrating.

Sure, if I can stack them one on top of the other, I'm going to have a great season.

But I was incorrect on just one game last week — the third time this season I've come so close to a flawless slate, only to have it elude me. It ruffles my feathers and tweaks my beak.

I'm 37-7 and my focus is clear: Perfect picks in Week 6.

Harbor Creek at Butler — The Golden Tornado have a chance to move above .500 for the first time in nine years.

For Harbor Creek, the long trip back to the shores of Lake Erie would be much more enjoyable after a victory.

Keep dreaming, Huskies.

Score: Butler 34-14

Seneca Valley at Central Catholic — This is the game of the week for me. It could even be a playoff preview. The Raiders will be in position to win, possibly hold a late lead, but ...

Score: Central Catholic 23-19

Indiana at Knoch — Both teams love to run the football. The Indians will do it more effectively on the grass at Knoch Stadium.

The Knights' offense will show improvement, but not enough.

Score: Indiana 30-21

Armstrong at Mars — The Planets never seem to lack an identity, let alone this far into the season.

Searching for one with the high-flying River Hawks in town is a daunting task.

Score: Armstrong 38-15 North Catholic at Burrell — The Trojan express claims another victim.

Score: North Catholic 48-8

Freeport at Valley — The Yellowjackets finally get to face a conference opponent and will respond with a dominating performance.

Score: Freeport 40-6

Saint Marys at Karns City — The Dutch are 4-1 and were the preseason favorites, according to the district's coaches, to win the conference title.

The undefeated Gremlins have other ideas.

Score: Karns City 41-13

Moniteau at Brookville — Facing Brookville is a very tall task. Meeting the Raiders after they got pushed around the previous week just makes it even more challenging.

The Warriors rushed for more than 500 yards last week and will seek more production the ground.

Score: Brookville 36-14

Slippery Rock at Conneaut (OH) — The Rockets have remained focused despite having four games canceled on them this season. They're unbeaten and will cross the state line to keep it that way.

Score: Slippery Rock 29-16

Port Allegany at Union/A-C Valley — They have a small roster, but the Falcon Knights can ball. They'll take a big bite out of the Gators this week.

Score: Union/A-C Valley 32-14

Summit Academy at Apollo-Ridge — I'm very tempted to side with the Knights. They have yet to win this season, but trailed just 9-0 at halftime last week against a good Western Beaver team.

They'll keep this one very close.

Score: Apollo-Ridge 27-22
