Raiders drop close one in SV tourney final

Dave Monteleone scored a game-high 24 points, including eight in the final quarter, but the rally turned in by the Seneca Valley boys basketball team fell just short in a 62-59 loss to Ringgold Saturday night in the championship game of the Seneca Valley Tip-Off Tournament.

The Raiders trailed by 11 at the half before launching a furious comeback in the final two periods.

Seneca Valley (1-1) tied the score at 57 with 1:30 remaining in the game, but Kyle Fisher hit a 3-pointer for Ringgold to put the Rams up for good.

The Raiders stayed in the game for the most part because of poor free throw shooting by Ringgold.

The Rams were just 10-of-26 from the line in the game and a dreadful 4-of-15 in the fourth quarter.

Kevin Mayberry, who hit the game-winner against Sto-Rox Friday, scored 10 points for Seneca Valley.
