ADAMS TWP — A public hearing on the Hickory Glen planned residential district scheduled Monday has been delayed.

According to information from Adams Township officials, the hearing has been continued at the request of the Saving Rural Adams group and the developer, Weaver Master Builders. The meeting is now scheduled for 6:30 p.m. May 21 at the Adams Township Municipal Building.

The proposed plan would build 42 residential homes at the east end of Pearce Road. They would be built in a rural conservation zoning district within the township.

The plan has been the subject of opposition, as residents say it would have a negative impact on land and traffic in the area. They also disagreed with it being built in the RC zone, as did some of the township supervisors.

A series of legal issues and filings by members of the Saving Rural Adams group led to Butler County Judge Marilyn Horan revoking tentative approval for the plan. She remanded the case to be heard by township supervisors for a third time, with that meeting originally scheduled Monday.

Since then, the developer has adjusted the plan, lowering the number of homes from 50 to 42 and changing details to meet new PRD zoning amendments passed by the township last year.

Earlier this month, the township planning commission voted to recommend tentative approval for the plan, though supervisors will not vote on the matter until after a public hearing is held.
