Freeport girls snap 2-game slide; SV golfers defeat Butler, 206-226

Freeport's girls soccer team snapped a two-game skid with a 1-0 victory at Highlands Wednesday night.

Sidney Shemanski scored the lone goal off an assist from Aleah Parison.

Maddy Zarichnak recorded four saves for the Yellowjackets (7-2, 5-2), who travel to Springdale on Saturday.

Slippery Rock 1, Sharon 0 — Kayla Daugherty scored the lone goal in the Rockets' win.

Mars senior Zach Leachman placed second at the 13th annual PIAA Foundation Class AAA Cross Country Invitational recently in Hershey.Leachman's time was 16 minutes, 29 seconds.

Both Butler doubles teams fell in the first round of the Section 2-AAA tournament.The Golden Tornado's No. 1 duo of Lexi Chappel and Aubrie Cavaliero lost to Mars' Julia McCarty and Emma Nelson, 11-9.Jillian Clark and Cameron Hanratty lost to Pine-Richland's Elle Stokes and Megan Wilson, 10-2.
