Frances E. McClellan

McClellan

Frances E. McClellan (nee Phillips), 84, of Emeritus at Stow, formerly of Brentwood Drive in Hudson, Ohio, passed away Monday of natural causes. Before moving in 2006, she had been a lifelong resident of Butler.

Born Jan. 12, 1925, in Dubois, she was the seventh daughter of Joseph and Mary Phillips.

She grew up and attended school in Marienville, where her Sicilian parents owned Phillips Market.

She married her husband, Edward McClellan, April 25, 1942, in Crown, Pa. They shared 64 years together upon his death in 2006.

Mrs. McClellan spent her years in Butler, where her husband was employed by Magnetics/Spang & Co. They raised their four children on Cecelia Street and Muntz Avenue Extension.

She was a former member of the Intermediate League of Butler, the Butler Country Club and various church women's guilds.

While living in Butler she had been a member of the St. Paul, St. Michael and the St. Fidelis Roman Catholic churches. In Ohio, she was a member of the St. Mary Roman Catholic Church in Hudson. She had a great devotion to praise and the rosary.

She was an avid reader, wonderful cook, decorator and painter. She had a great love for her family.

Surviving are four children, Kathleen and son-in-law, Frank Cervenka, of Palm Coast, Fla., Joseph McClellan of Akron, Ohio, Vicki, and son-in-law David Groves, of Center Township, Pa., and Steven and daughter-in-law, Holly, McClellan of Hudson, Ohio. Seven grandchildren and their spouses, Nicholas and Amber Newcaster, Jennifer and Paul Weirl, Joseph and Melissa McClellan, Eric and Jennifer Taylor, Kristen and Jason Young, Julia and Sean Cilona and Matthew Steven McClellan; three great-grandchildren, Dylan and Taylor Young and Syndey Taylor; a sister, Sally Wojtaszek of Pittsburgh; and a brother, Thomas of Vowinkel also survive.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward; five sisters, Babe, Nora, Jeanette, Gert and Mary; two brothers, James and Joseph; a son-in-law, Gary L. Taylor; and several nieces and nephews.

<B>MCCLELLAN</B> — Friends of Frances E. McClellan (nee Phillips), who died Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the <B>Johnson-Romito</B>, a Golden Rule Funeral Home, 19 E. Main St. on the square, Hudson, Ohio, 330-650-4181. The rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. at Johnson-Romito.Visitation also will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the St. Fidelis Roman Catholic Church, 125 Buttercup Road. Entombment will be in the Chapel of Devotion, Butler County Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Heart Association.
