CENTER TOWNSHIP — The 2016 Fire Tax, which was $105,000, was released to the Unionville Fire Department on Tuesday in a motion by the Center Township board of supervisors.

Unionville Fire Chief Nathan Wulff said the money will go toward general operating costs and “whatever incidentals we need to keep the lights on.”

The 2015 Fire Tax, which was $100,000, was distributed in various ways.

Vehicle and equipment maintenance took up $27,466, $15,426 went to insurance premiums, $13,905 went to utilities, $5,310 went to training and fire prevention, $4,943 went to the department building maintenance, $3,402 went to fuel, and $1,959 went to office expenses.
