Deer cull hunters can be unidentified

HARRISBURG — A court says the names of archers who volunteered to help kill deer in a Pittsburgh suburb can remain secret under the state Right-to-Know Law.

Commonwealth Court ruled Friday that the volunteers were covered by a provision in the law that allows agencies to withhold the names of people who donate to government.

A newspaper said in August that more than 200 deer have been taken from the area over the past two years.

The hunt was designed to lower the number of deer-related vehicle crashes.
