Fred Rogers nonprofit gets new head
PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh nonprofit named after Fred Rogers, the creator and late host of the television show “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood,” is getting a new president and chief executive.
Fred Rogers Co. announced on Tuesday that 46-year-old Paul Siefken will replace retiring president and CEO Bill Isler effective Jan. 1.
Siefken is the organization’s vice president of broadcast and digital media. The New Orleans native joined the organization three years ago after spending nearly a decade at PBS. He has also worked for Cartoon Network.
Fred Rogers now produces PBS children’s programs.
Siefken says he envisions the organization focusing on the series it’s already producing and developing new ones for young children.
Fred Rogers founded the organization in 1971. Isler worked with Rogers for decades. He is also a former executive director of the Fred Rogers Center for Early Learning and Children’s Media at St. Vincent’s College in Latrobe.
