Four Stars

Quartet of SV boys dive into state meet

Seneca Valley’s boys accomplished a very rare feat Saturday, qualifying four divers for the state meet.

Isaiah Clerkley paced the effort with a second-place score of 418.20 in the WPIAL Class 3A championship meet at North Allegheny High School.

Finishing in third, fourth and fifth place, respectively, were Jeremiah Laslavic (394.40), Sam Skeen (361.95) and Sam Hersick (339.70).

“We (coaches) were going back and forth between all four divers during the meet and it was just one dive at a time,” said SV coach Nancy Laslavic. “I’m so happy for them, so proud of our boys.”

North Allegheny’s Will Schenk earned the district crown at 428.60.

SV senior Ashley Felitsky will close her scholastic career at states after turning in a 405.80, good for third place in the girls meet.

Also earning a medal by placing in the top eight were SV’s Madison Monahan (sixth, 365.40) and Butler’s Dalayne Waterbec (seventh, 360.55).

Mars’ Kirsten Maybach placed ninth.
