5:23 a.m. today — At least one person was hurt in a multivehicle crash on Branchton Road near Route 108 in Slippery Rock Township. State police are investigating but an accident report was not available this morning.The wreck apparently happened when one of the vehicles sideswiped two or three other vehicles, said Chief Dave Taggart of the Slippery Rock Volunteer Fire Company. The Slippery Rock VFD assisted police with traffic control. Slippery Rock University police also assisted at the scene.It was not immediately known how many people were hurt but at least one person was taken by ambulance to Grove City Medical Center.1:55 p.m. Sunday — James M. Roberts, 47, of Slippery Rock was arrested after allegedly violating a protection from abuse court order at an unspecified property on Stoughton Road in Slippery Rock Township. Police said Roberts is charged with indirect criminal contempt.
2:15 p.m. Sunday — A car driven by Nathan R. Rice, 20, of Bradford, Pa., crashed on the Interstate 80 exit ramp in Barkeyville. Rice's car struck the guardrail on the south side of the Exit 29 ramp, went back across the ramp traffic lane and traveled about 150 feet through the median between the exit ramp and the eastbound lanes of I-80.The car ended about 100 feet north of the I-80 eastbound off-ramp. Police said Rice was cited for a lane violation.
12:17 a.m. Sunday — Robert G. Bennett, 38, of Kittanning was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of controlled substances on Route 422 in Manor Township.4:53 p.m. Saturday — An unknown thief stole a marine radio and antenna from a 52-year-old man's Stone Avenue home in Pine Township, Armstrong County. The radio is valued at $200.3:12 p.m. Saturday — Sport utility vehicles driven by Kenneth Heuser, 36, of Dayton and Joseph Russick, 56, of Ford City collided at Stone and Clay avenues in Pine Township, Armstrong County. Pine and Templeton volunteer firefighters assisted at the scene.10:15 p.m. Friday — A 55-year-old South Buffalo Township woman, who police did not identify, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 128 about one mile southeast of Route 28 in South Buffalo Township.1:52 p.m. Friday — Kenneth J. Troutman, 26, of Yatesboro was caught shoplifting a carful of toys from the Walmart at the Hilltop Plaza in East Franklin Township. Troutman is charged with retail theft.10:35 a.m. Wednesday — Bill A. Baker, 28, of Ford City was arrested for suspicion of drunken driving shortly after he allegedly shoplifted merchandise from the Busy Beaver store at the Hilltop Plaza in East Franklin Township. Police said Baker faces charges of DUI and retail theft.
10:50 p.m. Friday — Andrew J. Shoop, 27, of Grove City was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Stoneboro Road east of Route 19 in Fairview Township, Mercer County.Thursday — An unknown vandal sometime Wednesday night or Thursday morning spun circles in the parking lot of Consumer Direct Sports on Veterans Road in Springfield Township, causing several hundred dollars worth of damage to landscape plants and shrubs.
