Jennifer Friel was recently presented the Junior Woman of the Year Award during the closing dinner of the Junior Women's Club of Butler.Friel was for serving as the chairwoman of the community service committee for two years and for participating in the nominating committee, and the Twilight Magic fundraising event.Outside of the club, she works as a substitute teacher at Butler Catholic School and is involved with St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler.She and her husband, Matthew Friel, reside in Butler. ZELIENOPLE - Artists working within a 20-mile radius may participate in the Local Area Artists' Show and Sale, sponsored annually by the Zelienople Historical Society.The event will open July 21 at Buhl House, 221 S. Main St., as part of the historical group's Horse Trading Days activities. The show will run through August.May Lutz, Jane Springer, and Ruth Lewis are completing arrangements for the show, and will accept artwork for display and sale from 1 to 3 p.m. July 18 at Buhl House. Prior registration is necessary.Entry information is available from the Zelienople Historical Society from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, Passavant House, 243 S. Main St., Zelienople, or by mail with a stamped, self-addressed envelope to ZHS Art Show and Sale, P.O. Box 45, Zelienople, PA 16063-0045.Proceeds of the show benefit preservation, maintenance and educational projects of the Zelienople Historical Society.

<B>Cynthia Marshall</B>, a professor of English at the Community College of Beaver County, recently received the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development Excellence Award.A professor at the college since 1990, she holds bachelor's and master's degrees from Slippery Rock University, a doctorate degree from the University of Pittsburgh and has completed post-doctoral work in the writing division of Kenyon College.She and her husband, William Smith live in Butler.Winners at the Butler Duplicate Bridge Club game, held June 9, were: <B>Sidney Steiner</B> and <B>William Lindgren</B>, <B>Polly Black</B> and <B>Alan Martin</B>, <B>Nancy Welsh</B> and <B>John Kristufek</B> and <B>Nicholas Tredennick</B> and<B>Art Aronson</B>

Registered Nurse <B>Diana Ramirez</B> of Butler has been selected to represent UPMC St. Margaret at the seventh annual Cameos of Caring program, sponsored by the University of Pittsburgh School of Nursing.Cameos of Caring honors area nurses for demonstrating excellence in nursing care, serving as effective advocates for patients and their families, and acting as role models for the profession of nursing.Selected from a group of nine other finalists from UPMC St. Margaret she will join awardees from 35 area hospitals at an awards gala in October.Ramirez is a nurse in the Emergency Department at UPMC St. Margaret. She has been with UPMC St. Margaret for three years.She lives with her husband and three children, and is an active member of the Butler High School Hockey Parent Committee.
