PORTERSVILLE — Moraine State Park has scheduled the following community programs:

10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, McDanel’s Launch Area on the North Shore — Watercolor Wednesday. Adults of any artistic level are invited to a painting session utilizing liquid frisket and washes. Class size is limited. Call to register 724-368-9185. Supplies will be provided or participants may bring their own.

7:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, McDanel’s Launch Area on the North Shore — Fireflies. Join park staff on a journey into the world of luminous lightning bugs. Find out about their unique lives, how to help scientists understand them and how to make a backyard firefly friendly. Bring the children for outdoor fun. Participants must register by calling the park office at 724 368-8811 by Wednesday.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, all park programs are limited to 25 participants, who must bring a mask or face covering. Social distancing is in effect.

[naviga:h3]Zion Church hosts blood drive June 30[/naviga:h3]

SARVER — Zion United Methodist Church, 438 Bear Creek Road, will host a blood drive from 1 to 7 p.m. June 30 in its Family Life Center.

[naviga:h3]Police group stages virtual 5K event[/naviga:h3]

CRANBERRY TWP — The Cranberry Township Police Association is running a virtual 5k. Participants can run or walk anytime and submit results from July 3 to July 11.

The association will give away prizes, gift cards and long-sleeve T-shirts to random runners.

T-shirts and finisher medals will be available for pickup or mailed two weeks after the race. To submit activities: Log into a RunSignUp Account; follow the link; and click on Submit Virtual Results.
