11th annual FAB Showcase slated for Saturday night

Butler Intermediate High School student Abby Dumbaugh puts the finishing touches on her painting for last year's FAB Showcase. This year's event is scheduled from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Saturday.

BUTLER TWP — Great art will be shown and sold for a great cause Saturday at the Butler Intermediate High School.

The 11th annual Fine Arts and Beyond, or FAB Showcase, features hundreds of pieces of artwork from Butler students, friends and alumni and is the largest fundraiser for the Butler Golden Tornado Scholastic Foundation.

It will run from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.

Last year, the event netted more than $53,000, providing 35 $1,000 scholarships for Butler High School seniors continuing their education and funding several creative teaching grants in the district.

“I love it because it does showcase our students. It’s not just a fundraiser,” said Lisa Nicholas Konesni, secretary of the scholastic foundation.

Student artwork includes drawings, paintings, ceramic sculptures, photography and pottery. Prices vary, but Konesni said all prices are reasonable.

In addition to the artwork, there will be live vocal and jazz performances by students, a silent auction and a gift basket and cash raffle.

Admission is free.
