Kalista Heidikamp

Students from Slippery Rock and Indiana universities were named winners in the Butler County Symphony Association's collegiate level of its Concerto Competition in April.

Kalista Heidkamp of SRU won the instrumental category as well as being named overall winner. Kyler Chastulnik of IUP won the vocal category.

Students from area colleges and universities submitted audition tapes which were reviewed by a panel of judges.

The winners will both receive a professional video recording of their piece, and Heidkamp as the overall winner will receive a $400 prize in addition to the recording.

There will be a benefit beef pot roast and biscuit or a creamed chicken and biscuit dinner, including coleslaw and pie, served from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's Anglican Church, 218 E. Jefferson St.The takeout-only dinner will benefit the Butler Meals on Wheels program.For more information, visit www.butlermealsonwheels.com.
