The driver of the Mars School District bus that went over a guardrail and down a Route 228 embankment, leaving six students with minor injuries, was found not guilty of both of the summary traffic offenses she was charged with following the Sept. 24 accident.

Sandra Boehler, 51, of Gibsonia was found not guilty of accidents involving an overturned vehicle and careless driving by Magisterial District Judge Wayne Seibel at a summary trial Thursday, according to court records.

Adams Township Police Officer Christopher Kopas filed the citations on Oct. 22 after reviewing video from several buses and the damage from the crash.

He concluded that the bus drifted from its lane and the right front wheel hit a temporary barrier sending the bus over a guard rail and down a hill where it rolled onto its side.

The guardrail had been previously damaged in another vehicle crash.

The bus was carrying 43 students, and six suffered minor injuries.

Boehler also suffered a minor injury.

Kopas reported that the 2017 Bluebird bus showed no signs of mechanical malfunction and that Boehler was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol. No environmental factors contributed to the accident, he said.

In a written statement she gave to bus service provider A.J. Myers and Sons, Boehler said another vehicle crossed into her lane and caused her to move to the right.

Attorney Michael Moser represented Boehler at the trial.
