Trailer owner faces charges
CRANBERRY TWP — State police say they found five dozen marijuana plants growing in a Cranberry Township trailer home.
According to court records, the plants, in various stages of growth, were in a makeshift greenhouse inside the master bedroom at 70734 Route 19, Lot 11.
Aaron David Butler, 30, who is identified as the “owner-renter” of the home, now faces numerous drug charges, including a felony count of drug manufacturing.
According to court records, state police on May 21 went to the home after receiving a complaint.
Court records say when the investigators arrived, Butler denied any drug operations. However, police could smell marijuana and see the “grow” lights inside the home, according to court records.
Butler, according to court records, let the police inside the home for a search.
During the search, investigators found two ”grow tents” in the master bedroom. One contained 42 plants and the other contained 14, according to court documents.
Then, in the closet there were eight marijuana plants and 86 marijuana “clones,” according to court records. Clones, are smaller, plant start-ups, according to the Internet.
In the kitchen sink police found what they described as a “THC extractor” or metal pipe. In the living room there was a shoe box containing processed marijuana and a silver scale. Police also found a menagerie of equipment used to grow marijuana, including LED grow lights, fans, a filter, surge protectors, a thermometer and numerous fertilizers, according to court records.
Samples of the plants were sent to the State Police Regional Crime Lab in Greensburg for analysis. The results from the samples, according to court records, identified the substances as marijuana.
Butler is charged with possession with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
No preliminary hearing has been scheduled yet. Court records indicate Butler lists an address in New Galilee in Beaver County.
