Butler Police8:49 a.m. Monday — Stanley E. Fair, 40, of Butler turned himself in on a warrant from a drugged driving case.At District Judge Pete Shaffer’s office, Fair was arraigned on charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, hit-and-run, driving with a suspended license-DUI related and driving without insurance.Police filed the charges in connection with a June 21 crash in the 400 block of Oliver Street, where he allegedly hit two pickup trucks. Fair subsequently failed field sobriety tests and was taken by police to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology results showed Fair had amphetamines and barbiturates in his system, documents said.Fair was placed in the Butler County Prison on $10,000 bail following arraignment.8:43 p.m. Sunday — James A. Freed, 57, of Butler allegedly stole a large red landscaping stone from a home in the 500 block of North Monroe Street.Police arrested Freed a block away. He is charged with theft, attempted theft, loitering and prowling at night, criminal mischief and public drunkenness.2:48 a.m. Saturday — Michael J. Bozik, 26, of Butler was nearly three times the legal limit for alcohol when he crashed his sport utility vehicle into another SUV that was parked in the 300 block of Mercer Street, according to court documents.Police said Bozik drove away following the wreck. He was later found and arrested. A breath test showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.23 percent, according to court documents. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.In addition to driving under the influence, Bozik is charged with hit-and-run and careless driving.
Butler Township PoliceMonday — Police charged Brian J. Coughenour, 32, of Butler with shoplifting a car stereo head unit, valued at $150, at the Butler Commons’ Walmart on Sept. 7. He is charged with misdemeanor retail theft.8:54 p.m. Saturday — Nicholas A. Massella, 20, of Butler was arrested after he allegedly punched another person in the face during a domestic dispute at a home on Villa Drive. Massella was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment and placed in the Butler County Prison on $3,000 bail.7:04 a.m. Friday — A vehicle driven by Kimberly Thomas, 51, no address given, rear-ended another vehicle on Meridian Road at Delason Avenue. The other driver, John Graham, 51, no address given, was stopped to make a left turn. Thomas told police that due to thick fog she did not see Graham’s vehicle until it was too late.1:14 p.m. Wednesday — Justin X. Selfridge, 21, of West Sunbury allegedly punched someone in the face during an alteration at Old Plank Estates. He also is accused of kicking a resident’s door and threatening the occupant. Police cited Selfridge for two counts of disorderly conduct and one count of harassment.11:17 a.m. Wednesday — A vehicle driven by Robert L. Ekas Jr., 40, of Butler rear-ended another vehicle on Route 8 in front of the Greater Butler Mart. Police cited Ekas for driving at an unsafe speed. Stephen Harris, 20, of Butler was the other driver.
Buffalo Twp. Police1:01 p.m. Friday — A student was allegedly caught with two hunting knives at Freeport High School. The suspect, Christopher L. Myers, 19, of Freeport, told police he only brought the knives to school to show them to other students, according to court documents. Police charged him with a misdemeanor count of possession of a weapon on school property and a summary count of disorderly conduct.
Grove City PoliceFriday — An unknown thief stole a $6,725 flute from the Pew Fine Arts building at Grove City College. The flute was taken between Wednesday and Friday. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-458-7925.
