6:49 a.m. Tuesday — A wayward deer was blamed for a pair of crashes on Route 8 near the old Zanotti building.The first wreck happened when Morgan Gilliland, 28, of Butler hit the deer with his car. When he tried to cross the southbound lanes and pull into the Zanotti parking lot, another vehicle rear-ended his car. The collision spun the car into a grassy area.Police said Gilliland faces a ticket for making an improper turn. Samuel Geibel, 19, of Butler was the other driver.Monday — Megan Ellwood, 22, of Butler was hurt when a turning car struck the sport utility vehicle she was driving on Litman Road. Ellwood suffered minor facial injuries. Police cited Sarah McIntyre, 19, of Fenelton, who was driving the car, with failing to yield the right of way.
4:45 p.m. Tuesday — An unidentified vehicle struck and damaged an unoccupied Chevy Traverse in the parking lot of the Salvation Army on West Main Street. The unknown driver did not stop after the accident.Police believe the suspected hit-and-run vehicle is white. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-458-7925Tuesday — A Virginia man's Apple computer was stolen from a dorm room on the Grove City College campus. The MacBook Air laptop, valued at $1,100, was removed from the room in Keller Hall between 4 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. Tuesday.
Tuesday — Police reported they are investigating the latest in a rash of church break-ins.The unknown burglar or burglars used an unlocked window to get inside the Seneca United Methodist Church between 8:30 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. Monday.Money and a Pittsburgh Pirates blanket were stolen.Police did not indicate if they believe the break-in was connected to a series of recent burglaries and thefts at nearly 10 other churches in Venango and Crawford counties. Two men have reportedly been arrested in connection with those previous break-ins.
