Middlesex Twp. manager changes

Kaunert resigns; Cavanaugh hired

MIDDLESEX TWP — Eric Kaunert, the township manager for more than a year, has resigned to accept a job in the private sector.

The township supervisors accepted Kaunert’s resignation Wednesday night.

Supervisors Chairman Mike Spreng thanked Kaunert for his service.

“You did a very good job,” Spreng said.

Kaunert was hired Jan. 5, 2015, replacing longtime township manager Scot Fodi.

“I thoroughly enjoyed it,” Kaunert said of his employment in the township. “I’m very sad to go, and I wish everyone the best.”

The supervisors also hired a new manager, Travis Cavanaugh, who officially will start June 13.

Cavanaugh, who attended the meeting, comes from Daugherty Township, Beaver County, where he served for five years as secretary-treasurer.

He worked in Ambridge, Beaver County, for one year before his employment in Daugherty Township. Before that, he worked on the Cranberry Township Public Works road crew.

Cavanaugh studied accounting and management at La Roche College.

He said he is excited to work in Middlesex, where changes are happening.

“I’m looking forward to the growth in the township and working with the residents,” he said.

Kaunert will work part time at the township during Cavanaugh’s transition to manager. Cavanaugh said he would be able to begin training with Kaunert as early as Monday.
