SRU men bury Lock Haven
Junior forward Tabari Perry poured in a career-high 22 points in the Slippery Rock University men’s basketball team’s 84-61 win over Lock Haven Wednesday night at Morrow Field House.
Senior forward Devin Taylor added 18 points and 11 rebounds for The Rock (9-4, 6-3). It was Taylor’s sixth double-double of the season.
Torrance Timothy had 10 points and six assists while Jon Valeriano added 10 points for SRU. The win lifted The Rock into a four-way tie for third place in the PSAC West.
Andre Rivers scored 16 points and Terrell Johnson 15 for Lock Haven (0-11), which dropped its 31st straight game.
• Erinne Cunningham scored 14 points in SRU’s 59-46 women’s loss to Lock Haven. She canned four 3-pointers.
Paris Thomas dished out a career-high 11 assists for The Rock (4-9, 1-8) while Jasmine Cooper had 13 points and nine rebounds and Danielle Smith scored eight points.
SRU was outrebounded, 50-31. Mahogany Spence scored 15 points for Lock Haven (6-6, 5-4).
The Rock plays a women’s-men’s doubleheader Saturday at Mercyhurst, beginning at 1 p.m.
n Butler County Community College’s women’s team led by a point with three minutes to go, but suffered a 50-45 loss to Pitt-Titusville.Emily Wise scored 16 points and Casey Fleeger 13 for the Pioneers. Karyn Larson had 13 rebounds.• John Tyler scored 20 points in the Pioneer men’s 67-51 loss to Pitt-Titusville. Antawane Davis added 14 points, Corey Miller eight assists and Bill Smith eight rebounds.
