Bernstine on both ballots in 10th Dist.
The Republican state representative for the 10th District will appear on ballots this November as both a Democrat and a Republican.
State Rep. Aaron Bernstine, R-10th, was certified Wednesday as the winner of both parties’ primary elections held May 15.
According to online vote totals, Bernstine won 3,045 votes in the GOP primary — 1,087 votes in Beaver County; 353 votes in Butler County and 1,605 votes in Lawrence County — giving him 97 percent of the GOP vote.
Bernstine also ran a write-in campaign on the Democratic ticket, which was empty in all three counties. He prevailed over another write-in contender, Joseph McGurk of Beaver Falls.
Bernstine won a total of 505 write-in vote across the three counties: 24 in Butler County, 268 in Beaver County; and 213 in Lawrence County, according to election officials.
Bernstine, in a news release, said he was honored to receive the nominations and pledged to continue “challenging the establishment of both parties on egregious spending and taxes.”
“The hard-working people in our district voted to continue finding real solutions to problems, and rejected typical partisan bickering,” Bernstine said in the release.
The 10th District includes 15 municipalities in Lawrence County, eight municipalities in Beaver County, and Slippery Rock Borough and Slippery Rock Township in Butler County.
