Rock swept at home
SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock University basketball teams lost to East Stroudsburg by different means Wednesday night at Morrow Field House.
The Rock men were victimized by late runs at the end of each half in a 98-72 loss. SRU’s women dropped a 78-71 overtime decision.
Malcolm Richardson, a transfer from East Stroudsburg, scored 24 points and snared 12 rebounds against his former team in the men’s game. Chaquille Pratt contributed 15 points and five rebounds, Juwan Strothers 10 points.
Najee Willis led four East Stroudsburg players in double figures with 15 points.
SRU slipped to 8-7 overall, 3-6 in PSAC play, while the visiting Warriors improved to 10-3, 6-3.
The women’s game featured 12 lead changes and six ties. SRU had a 54-51 lead before East Stroudsburg’s Imani Brown forced overtime by sinking a 3-pointer with 37 seconds left in regulation.
The Warriors (6-7, 4-5) sank nine of 10 free throws in overtime.
Erica Aiello and Lexie Carpenter scored 18 points each for The Rock (7-7, 4-5). Mallory Heinle added 12 points.
Both SRU teams travel to rival Indiana (Pa.) Saturday night.
Butler County Community College (women) 113, CCAC South 40 — Christina Davis scored 26 points and Julia Baxter had 25 points and six rebounds for the Pioneers (9-5). Kalynn Callihan scored 17 points, Saydie Moore 14 and Macy Smolic 10.
Alycia Brehm had nine assists, Shelby Campbell six rebounds.
Penn Highlands 100, Butler County Community College (men) 94, OT — Ken Snead scored 37 points and had 15 rebounds for the Pioneers (0-13). Austin Miller had 19 points and 10 assists, Jake Anderson 17 rebounds and Demitrias Lockley 11 points.
