ADAMS TWP — Supervisors approved a number of plans for proposed housing developments Monday, following a slew of public hearings earlier this month.

Officials gave tentative approval to Amherst Village development Phase 5, conditional use approval to Amherst Village Phases 6, 7 and 8 and preliminary approval to Gabriel's Crest.

Amherst Village Phase 5 features 23 units and plans to connect Forsythe and Mars-Evans City Roads.

This plan was subject to extended public hearings where residents and officials raised concerns about traffic impact and safety.

After presentations from traffic engineers and concurring opinions from engineers at public hearings, officials determined the plan met township code and voted to grant it tentative approval.

Several residents again spoke against the plan, saying that the development is too close to a nearby airport, but officials said the construction meets height requirements from the Federal Aviation Administration.

Officials also approved conditional use to Phases 6, 7 and 8, with the condition that the phases be built in that order. The developer agreed.

Supervisors also gave preliminary approval to Gabriel's Crest, a 63 unit housing development proposed for Hespenheide Road.

The plan again garnered praise from Ron Olsen, township engineer, for the inclusion of open space beyond what is required by the ordinance.
