Rock swept by IUP

The Slippery Rock University women's basketball team battled back from a 22-point first-half deficit to get to within four points of host Indiana (Pa.) with six minutes left to play, but the Crimson Hawks pulled out an 81-70 PSAC West victory on Saturday.

Sophomore guard Ciara Patterson led SRU's effort with 26 points. Erica Aiello added 17 points and Lexi Carpenter 12 points and nine assists for The Rock (7-8, 4-6).

Potomac State 81, Butler County Community College 64 — The Pioneers (9-6) fell on the road despite 37 points and 11 rebounds from Julia Baxter.

Macy Smolic added 14 points for BC3 and Alycia Brehm seven assists.

SRU could not take advantage of five players scoring in double figures, losing to Indiana (Pa.) 89-71.

Cornelius Brown paced The Rock with 17 points, Malcolm Richardson had 16 and Naquil Jones 13.

Chaquille Pratt managed a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds and Abdul King contributed 10 points for SRU (8-8, 3-7), which trailed 44-32 at halftime.

Potomac State 113, Butler County Community College 47 — Ken Snead (20 points) and Austin Miller (15) were the top scorers for BC3.

Miller tallied eight assists and Jake Anderson nine rebounds for the Pioneers (0-15).
