Slippery Rock University’s women’s basketball team used a dominating effort on the boards (48-23) in defeating visiting Clarion 71-54 Wednesday night.

Lexi Carpenter paced The Rock with 22 points, while Erica Aiello (13), Mallory Heinle (12) and Ciara Patterson (11) each reached double figures.

SRU (12-14, 8-12), which outscored Clarion 22-8 in the fourth quarter, featured five players with at least six rebounds, led by 10 from Morgan Henderson.

Men’s BasketballSRU scored four points in the final seven seconds, but dropped a 68-67 thriller against Clarion.The Golden Eagles’ Andre’ Anthony drained a free throw with seven seconds remaining, giving Clarion a 68-63 lead.
