Freeport, GC suffer stunning losses
Demetrius Houser rushed for 111 yards on nine carries and scored on a 55-yard touchdown to help Valley shock Freeport 9-8 Friday night.
Valley (2-2) won the game on a 26-yard field goal by Steve Colaguiri late in the third quarter.
Freeport (3-1) took an 8-0 lead in the second quarter on a 50-yard interception return by Fred Pastoria. Zane Geist hauled in the 2-point conversion pass from Brendan Lynch.
Clarion 56, Moniteau 14 — The host Bobcats (4-0) scored four touchdowns in the fourth quarter to win going away.
John Katos threw for 204 yards and Cody Hearst had five catches for 138 yards and a pair of touchdowns for Clarion. Dustin Geagan paced the Warriors (0--4) with 51 yards rushing and returned a kickoff 87 yards for a score.
Andrew Armagost scored on a 2-yard run for Moniteau late in the first half, capping an 11-play, 65-yard drive.
Hickory 41, Grove City 12 — DeShawn Coleman proved to be too much for the Eagles as the Hornets rolled in this Region 3-AAA showdown.
Coleman had 18 carries for 155 yards and three touchdowns and added a 92-yard interception return for another score.
The Eagles had 62 carries, but mustered just 206 yards — 97 on 26 carries from Chad Williams and 87 on 16 carries from Foster Reznor.
Williams scored on a 4-yard run in the first quarter and Jared Graham added a 1-yard score in the fourth quarter.

Slippery Rock 4, Grove City 1 — Harley Boyd scored three goals for the Lady Rockets (3-4, 3-0) while Haley Angerett added a goal and assist in this Thursday game. Kalie Davis scored for Grove City.
Golf
Brett Rinker was medalist with a 77 and Bob Paczkowski placed third with an 80 Thursday as Slippery Rock finished second out of 11 teams at the McDowell Invitational.
Cathedral Prep won the event with a 333, the Rockets finishing six strokes behind. Zac McCue and Collin Hyatt both had 91 for Slippery Rock.
Seneca Valley 195, Shaler 215 — Blake Miller, Brad Cypher and Travis Becker each carded a 38 to pace the Raiders in this match from Thursday at Pheasant Ridge Golf Club.
Seneca Valley (4-5, 4-4) will host North Allegheny at Cranberry Highlands on Monday.
