Scoop far from perfect
Nobody is perfect.
Just as the NFL replacement refs.
While the Scoopster was not a zebra last week, he did resemble a goat with a very bad 6-5 mark.
Many games tripped me up. I vow not to offer up such a substandard performance this week.
On to the picks:
Central Catholic 30, Seneca Valley 26 — This game is at NexTier Stadium tonight, even though it was supposed to be a Central Catholic home game.
It’s hard to peg the Raiders. One week, they look great. The next week, well, not so great and then they look great again.
North Allegheny 41, Butler 9 — Last week’s loss hurt the Golden Tornado. It was a winnable game that they let slip away.
This week, they face the big bully on the block in NA.
Knoch 27, Hampton 17 — This is a true test for the Knights, who have passed every one they have faced this season.
Knoch has gotten better with each passing week and a win here furthers that trend.
Mars 36, Greensburg Salem 9 — The Planets are potent in all three phases of the game. That’s a good combination at any level,l.
Freeport 23, Shady Side Academy 16 — The Yellowjackets were stunned by Valley last week.
Something tells me they won’t get shocked two weeks in a row.
Slippery Rock 29, East 14 — The Rockets defense is fast, aggressive and has a mean streak.
East has a talented offense led by quarterback Jauwan Ford.
Slippery Rock, though, has faced a talented attack just about every week. Here’s another one that it will handle.
Karns City 26, Franklin 13 — The Gremlins were the latest victim of the Union Mad At The World Because No One Believes In Us Tour.
Karns City believes. Now, people are starting to doubt the Gremlins. Bad idea.
Moniteau 17, Brookville 16 — The Warriors have been looking for something positive in the face of turmoil all season.
Moniteau needs this win and it will get it.
Clarion 36, Union 21 — The Golden Knights have proven me wrong before, like last week. But I did say I wouldn’t be surprised if they beat Karns City.
See, I was sort of kind of right.
I can’t pick them this week. Clarion may be the best team in the KSAC — period — let alone Class A.
And you know what? Union may be right up there.
A-C Valley 29, Redbank Valley 15 — Another perennial doormat that is kicking some serious behind this season is the Falcons.
Grove City 28, Greenville 12 — The Eagles are more banged up than Evel Knievel.
They’ll get healthy this week.
Ford City 26, Summit Academy 8 — The Knights are struggling offensively.
Not good.
Scoop is 33-11 this season, so three-out-of-four ain’t bad.
