Ground game rolls
Karns City jumped out to a 27-0 lead in the first half Friday night and cruised to a 34-7 football triumph at Keystone.
The Gremlins (4-2) entered the game with all of their quarterbacks banged up and relied on their ground game to build the early lead.
Official statistics were not available by presstime, but KC coach Ed Conto said, “I told our line we had to blow them off the ball all night because I wasn't going to risk passing and getting our quarterback hurt anymore.”
Karns City threw fewer than five passes in the game.
Dalton Callihan, Ed Craig and Mike Olkowski were among the offensive linemen who led the way for the Gremlins.
“I know Dakota Mohney really ran hard tonight, too,” Conto said.
Keystone (2-4) did not score until the fourth quarter as Austin Chambers delivered a 14-yard touchdown pass to Kyle Servey,
Grove City hit the ground running on Friday — and never relented.Harold Price, Chad Williams and Foster Reznor each scored first-quarter touchdowns to stake the Eagles to a 20-0 lead en route to a 55-15 Region 3 victory over Saegertown (0-6, 0-5).Grove City (5-1, 4-1) totaled 516 yards — 363 rushing.Williams finished with 106 yards on eight carries for two scores and was on the receiving end of an 80-yard pass play from Jared Graham.Reznor added 86 yards on six carries and added a 60-yard punt return for another score and Price finished with two scores.Graham finished with 153 yards on 3-of-4 passing.
The Raiders had three players — Cameron Yard, Brodie Zacherl and Zach Vroman — rush for more than 100 yards in their win over the Falcons (2-4). All three scored touchdowns.A-C Valley quarterback Kevin Kaufman threw for 209 yards and a touchdown. Josh Suto returned a kickoff 92 yards for a score and Landon Delisio rushed for 60 yards and a touchdown.Brookville rolled up 432 rushing yards in the win.
