Sentences

Common Pleas Court Judge Timothy F. McCune handed down sentences in a number of criminal cases in sentence court Thursday:

Stephen Michael Rausch, 37, of Zelienople was sentenced to serve a minimum of 18 months in state prison and pay more than $15,000 in restitution after pleading guilty to charges in three cases. He was sentenced to serve 24 to 60 months with a minimum of 18 months in exchange for pleading guilty to a felony charge of criminal mischief filed by Butler Township police following a Jan. 24 incident. In a second case, he was sentenced to serve a concurrent 24-60 months with a minimum of 18 months in prison after pleading guilty to a charge of burglary filed by Zelienople police following a Jan. 20 incident. In the third case, he was sentenced to serve a concurrent 6 to 12 months with a minimum of 4 1/2 months after pleading guilty to a charge of criminal mischief filed by Butler Township police following a Jan. 24 incident.

Athena Lee Tompai, 31, of Butler was sentenced to serve 12 to 36 months in state prison with a minimum of 13 1/2 months after pleading guilty charges in two cases. She was sentenced to serve 12 to 24 months with a minimum of nine months after pleading guilty to possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver filed by the state Attorney General’s Office following a June 4, 2019, incident. Charges of criminal use of a communication facility and possession of drug paraphernalia were dismissed. In the second case, she was sentenced to serve 6 to 12 months with a minimum of 4 1/2 months consecutively after pleading guilty to an offensive weapons charge filed by Butler Township police following a June 30, 2018, incident.

Justin Ray Manny, 41, of Butler was sentenced to serve 16 to 48 months in state prison after pleading guilty to charges in five cases. He was sentenced to 16-48 months and pay $12.87 in restitution to Sheetz after pleading guilty to a charge of retial theft filed by Butler Township police following a May 14, 2018, incident. In a second case, he was sentenced to serve 16 to 48 months concurrently and pay $7.96 in restitution to Sheetz after pleading guilty to a charge of retail theft filed by Butler Township police following a May 10, 2018, incident. In a third case, he was sentenced to serve 16 to 48 months concurrently and pay $148.97 in restitution to Walmart after pleading guilty to a charge of retail theft filed by Butler Township police following an April 7, 2018, incident. In a fourth case, he was sentenced to serve 6 to 24 months concurrently and pay $60 in restitution to Pizza Joe’s after pleading guilty to a charge of theft filed by Butler City police following an August 2017 incident. In the fifth case, he was sentenced to serve 6 to 24 months concurrently after pleading guilty to a charge of simple assault filed by city police following a November 2017 incident.

David Kenneth Arnold, 42, of Butler was sentenced to serve 24 to 48 months in state prison after a jury found him guilty in September of charges of contraband and possession of a controlled substance by an inmate filed by county detectives following a January 2020 incident. County prison corrections officers found him with Suboxone in his prosthetic leg and prison-issued wheelchair. His sentence is 24 to 48 months for the contraband charge and 12 to 24 months concurrently for the possession charge.

Michael David Bice, 52, of Mercer was sentenced to serve 16 to 36 months in the county prison after pleading no contest to a charge of aggravated assault filed by Slippery Rock Borough police following a May 2020 incident. No action was taken on other charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with an unconscious person, rape of an unconscious victim and two counts of aggravated indecent assault were dismissed.

Bradley Scott Cramer, 32, of Butler was sentenced to serve a total of 12 to 48 months in state prison after pleading guilty to charges in seven cases. He was sentenced to 12 to 48 months and ordered to pay $976 in restitution to Walmart after pleading guilty to a charge of retail theft filed by Butler Township police following a June 14, 2020, incident. In the second case, he was given no penalty after pleading guilty to a charge of criminal mischief filed by city police following a March 29, 2020, incident. In the third case, he was sentenced to serve 30 days to 12 months concurrently and pay $3,800 in restitution to a resident after pleading guilty to resisting arrest filed by city police following a June 17, 2020, incident. In the fourth case, he was sentenced to serve 12 to 48 months concurrently and pay $478 in restitution to Walmart after pleading guilty to a charge of retail theft filed by Butler Township police following a June 10, 2020, incident. In the fifth case, he was sentenced to 12 to 48 months concurrently and pay $1,003 in restitution to Rural King after pleading guilty to a charge of retial theft filed by state police following an Aug. 15, 2020, incident. In the sixth case, he was sentenced to 12 to 48 months concurrently and ordered to pay $1,503 in restitution to Lowe’s after pleading guilty to a charge of retail theft filed by Cranberry Township police following a Sept. 16, 2020, incident. In the seventh case, he was sentenced to serve 12 to 48 months concurrently and ordered to pay $3,671 in restitution to Target after pleading guilty to a charge of retail theft filed by Butler Township police following a Sept. 6, 2020, incident. He was given credit for time already served in prison.

Joseph P. Wcislo, 62, of Ravenna, Ohio, was sentenced to serve 6 months of probation, pay fines totaling $1,750 and complete alcohol highway safety school, a victim impact panel and a litter pick-up program after pleading guilty to charges of DUI and driving with a blood alcohol content of .02% or greater filed by Slippery Rock University police following an October 2020 incident.

Brandon Albert Dolan, 27, of Butler was sentenced to serve 6 to 23 months in the county prison, but was immediately paroled, and complete 25 hours of community service after pleading guilty to a charge of possession of a controlled substance filed by county detectives following a Feb. 26 incident.

Richard Christian Cahall, 63, of Zelienople was sentenced to serve 60 months of probation, pay a $1,500 fine and complete alcohol highway safety school, a victim impact panel and a litter pick-up program after pleading guilty to his second DUI offense filed by state police following a May 2018 incident.
