Raiders top Rams for 11th section victory

Kyle Helisek scattered four hits and struck out seven batters to lead the Seneca Valley baseball team to a 5-1 section victory over Pine-Richland Monday.

Tyler Bream homered and Jim Burry added three hits for the Raiders (15-1, 11-0).

In other games:

• Bob Revesz pitched a six-inning shutout and hit a two-run homer, and Derek Forese added a three-run blast as Grove City blanked Oil City 13-0.

• In his first mound appearance in more than two weeks, Saxon Parker struck out 10 batters in six innings as Karns City beat North Clarion, 9-3.

Greensburg Salem 10, Knoch 9 — Hilary Rihn, Krissy Harbison and Paige Macadaeg had two goals apiece, but the Knights fell short against the Lions.Diane Bundy, Kate Werling and Jess Protzman also scored for Knoch (1-12-1), which hosts Shaler today.

Butler 10, Vincentian 2 — Zach Reiser and Jarrod Oesterling tallied two goals apiece while Cody Conklin, Tim Smith, John Noel, Dan McPherson, Ryan Harbaugh and Adam Bresnehan added one goal apiece in the win for the Tornado (6-7, 4-4).Reiser added three assists while Conklin and Tyler Kotch had two assists and Matt Carrier made nine saves.

Colby Davis placed in three events Saturday as the Union boys track and field team competed in the Pine-Richland Invitational.Davis placed fifth in the 100 meters, sixth in the long jump and ran a leg of the 400-meter relay team that placed sixth. Brogan Gearhart, Ryan Bowser and Josh Holden also ran that relay.Other Golden Knights placing at the meet included Gearhart finishing eighth in the 200 dash and Neil Scott taking fifth in the javelin.Junior High SoftballSara Cobern, Sadie Marak and Fallon Bachman each had two hits for Butler in a 14-3 loss to Hampton Monday.Butler (8-5) will play at Shaler Wednesday.
