The Butler boys golf team needed a lift, and Andrew Shakely provided it.

The senior carded a 33 to lead the Golden Tornado (1-3, 2-4) to a 193-220 win over New Castle Thursday at Butler Country Club.

The score is tied for the best finish since Hank Keller became coach 15 seasons ago and could very well be a school record.

Collin Randall and Nick Blymiller each managed a 33 in 2006 and 2005, respectively.

"He putted very well today," said Keller of Shakely's performance. "He had just 12 putts the whole match.

Shakely's only bogey came on the par-four No. 5 hole.

"If it wasn't for that bogey, he could've had the school record all to himself," Keller said.

Zach Pennington also played well, ending with a 37 for Butler, which will host Central Catholic today.
