Nurses graduate, receive their pins
BUTLER TWP — The Butler County Community College honored its students graduating with an associate degree in nursing — more than 50 students — on May 12.
The 2016 Nurses Pinning Ceremony was at 6 p.m. in the Succop Theater on the main campus.
The event featured Julia Carney, an instructor in the nursing and allied health division, as the guest speaker.
The ceremony recognized the 2016 class officers, including President Sydney Merrison, Vice President Jacob Smith, Treasurer Colby Staples, and Secretary Emily Franco. Franco also gave the closing address.
The ceremony also included recognition of the mentors, the history of the pin, lighting of the candles and a recitation of the Nurse’s Pledge.
BC3 student Summer Vantine received the 2016 Clinical Practice Award, honoring a graduating student who demonstrated exemplary clinical skills and professional excellence in nursing.
The 2016 nursing class included 56 graduates in seven clinical groups.
