Tornado netters blow away Indians

Runners from Butler, Shaler and North Allegheny begin the boys race during Tuesday's tri-meet. The Golden Tornado defeated Shaler 15-50 but lost 23-33 to North Allegheny.

Becky Smith had 10 kills and Katie Willison added 34 assists and seven aces to power the Butler girls volleyball team to a 25-15, 25-9, 25-7 sweep over North Hills Tuesday.

Butler (5-4, 4-4) will play at North Allegheny today.

Clarion 3, Karns City 0 — Laken Morrow had five kills and five digs, and Breanna Bowser added two kills, two digs and four points, but the Bobcats prevailed 25-9, 25-12, 25-13.Laura Isacco added 20 assists, three kills and five points for the Gremlins (6-3) who play at A-C Valley Thursday.

Knoch 3, Freedom 0 — The Knights (9-1, 6-1) dominated the Bulldogs by scores of 26-24, 25-11 and 25-13.Zoe Hughes tallied 13 kills, Liz Hill had 15 service points and Jessica Gross had 10 service points for Knoch.

North Clarion 3, A-C Valley 1 — Erika Rothen totaled four kills, four blocks and 11 service points for the Falcons, who dropped three straight sets to the Wolves after winning the first set.Lauren Snyder and Sam Kerlin both added three blocks for the Falcons (6-4, 3-4).A-C Valley's JV squad remained undefeated with a 2-0 win.

Rocky Grove 3, Moniteau 0 — The Warriors remained winless with a 25-15, 25-15, 25-17 loss.
