Raiders capture VB section title
Justine Carrow tallied 17 kills and Lauren Balmert added 30 assists as the Seneca Valley girls volleyball team clinched the Section 3-AAA title with a 3-0 sweep of host Butler Thursday night.
Meghan Franz had 10 kills and Jen Boyd five kills for the Raiders (15-2, 11-1), who won by scores of 25-9, 25-12 and 25-19.
Karns City 3, Clarion-Limestone 0 — Ashley Campbell had 12 assists, 13 kills and 16 service points to lead the playoff-bound Gremlins (10-4) to a 25-12, 25-18, 25-23 win.Katie Wiebel added 25 assists and 11 kills, and Laken Morrow pitched in 20 assists, 13 kills and 14 points for Karns City, which also won the JV match to improve to finish the season at 13-1.
Cranberry 3, A-C Valley 0 — Erika Rothen had 12 service points and six kills as the Falcons lost a 25-23, 25-20, 25-18 match.Katie Quaill, Samantha Kerlin and Erika Rothen each had 12 service points for A-C Valley (8-8, 5-7), which advanced to the playoffs.
Redbank Valley 3, Moniteau 0 — The Warriors remained winless in KSAC play with a 25-13, 25-6 and 25-10 loss.
Mars finished ninth at the WPIAL Championships with a team score of 430, Thursday at Cedarbrook Golf Course in Belle Vernon.Mt. Lebanon won the title with a score of 358.No details were available.
