McCormick's bat help carry SV past Shaler, 8-4

Megan McCormick smacked three doubles, scored a run and drove in another in Seneca Valley's 8-4 softball win over Shaler Tuesday.

Courtney Grootegoed struck out three and walked four, giving up the four runs on six hits for the Raiders (12-4, 8-3).

SV's victory snapped the Titans' nine-game winning streak. Shaler (11-4, 6-4) had given up 10 runs during that span.

In other games:

• Karns City's Brandi Dunkle struck out 15 batters in the first game of a doubleheader and teammate Ashton Pakutz fanned 10 in the second game as the Gremlins defeated West Forest 3-0 and East Forest 12-1 in five innings Tuesday.
