Five Butler County area basketball players received first- team honors when the Keystone Shortway Athletic Conference released its all-leagueteams.

Scott Booth of Union, Allan Eaton of A-CValley and Tyler Armagost of Moniteau were named to the boys first team.

Moniteau's Maura McCaslin and Karns City's Ashley Campbell made the girls first team.

Butler competed at the Olentangy Horse Show in Belpre, Ohio, Saturday. The Golden Tornado's lone high school rider at the show, Sarah Stovar, finished fifth in the junior Varsity Flat Equitation Class.The middle school team was represented by Carissa Chilcott, Jamie Mager and Shannon Stovar. Chilcott won first place in the Future Novice Flat Equitation class while Mager and Stovar were fifth. Chilcott was second in the Future Novice Over Fences class.Butler's middle school team finished third out of 10 teams. Chilcott qualified for the IEAZone 2 Finals, scheduled for April 4.

Ford City eliminated Greensburg Salem with a 9-1 victory in the opening round of playoff action Sunday at Belmont Arena.Butler senior R.C. Double started the scoring for the Sabers 48 seconds into the first period. He added two assists. Fellow Butler seniors Tanner Master (a goal and two assists) and Pat Wellner (a goal) also contributed to the win.Butler senior Justin O'Donnell recorded the win in net for Ford City.The top seeded Sabers will take on No 4 -seed Connellsville at the War Memorial in Johnstown at 7 p.m. today.
