Amanda Skidmore tallied eight kills and Brynn Maxwell had four as the Butler girls volleyball team rolled past host North Hills for a 3-0 victory Thursday.

The Golden Tornado, who won by scores of 25-9, 25-11 and 25-9, improved to 6-2 overall, 5-2 in the section.

Butler's JV team also won 2-0.

Freeport 3, Burrell 0 — Madison Rotto had 19 service points, 11 kills and 24 assists, and Carlie Bieranowski had 10 kills and eight points as the Yellowjackets blanked the Bucs 25-6, 25-6, 25-13.Ashley Massart had six kills and seven points, and Rachel Grubbs had eight points, five kills and four aces for Freeport (7-0).

North Clarion 3, Moniteau 0 — The Wolves swept the Warriors 25-11, 25-9, 25-14.

Danielle Wissinger and Sarah Cessar each scored three goals to lead Slippery Rock to a dominating 10-0 win over Kennedy Catholic.Also scoring for the Rockets (6-2-2) were Casey Dudek, Anna Cessar, Morgan Siebka and Cory Kirk.Karns City 2, Neshannock 0 — Millie McKain and Maggie McKain each registered a goal to lead the Gremlins to the win. Butler's No. 1 doubles duo of Madison Kerr and Carolyn Shetter lost to Pine-Richland's No. 1 team of Olivia Heim and Taylor Perz by a score of 6-3, 6-1 in the WPIAL Section 2-AAA quarterfinals.The Butler duo then lost in the third-place consolation match to North Hills' No. 1 team of Emily Winkler and Micheayla Varys 6-3, 6-2 to finish in fourth place.Kerr and Shetter had defeated Hampton's No. 1 team of Jessica Holden and Katherine Standbridge 10-1 before beating the Talbots' No. 2 squad of Catherine Chen and Ellen Murray 10-3 to earn a spot in the quarterfinals.Butler's No. 2 team of Rosel Nesbitt and Heather Santa fell to North Allegheny's tandem of Mikayla Becich and Tiffany Kollah, 10-5.

Slippery Rock 7, Kennedy Catholic 0 — Anna Cessar (3), Harley Boyd (2) and Allyssa Waryanka (2) each scored multiple goals.

North Allegheny 194, Butler 203 — Jeremy Gohn fired a 37 and Philip Schultz a 38 to lead Butler (9-4) Thursday.On Wednesday, Schultz had a 36 while Gohn and Anthony Paterno both shot a 37 in a 194-218 win over Knoch.
