DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Actor Harrison Ford has offered an emphatic plea for protecting the world's oceans while calling out President Donald Trump and others who “deny or denigrate science.”
The 76-year-old actor best known for his roles in “Star Wars” and “Indiana Jones” stressed the importance of acknowledging the effects of climate change on the world.
Ford avoided saying Trump's name during his speech Feb. 12 at the closing day of the World Government Summit in Dubai. However, he clearly targeted the American president within the opening moments of his speech.
Ford said: “Around the world, elements of leadership — including in my own country — to preserve their state and the status quo, deny or denigrate science. They are on the wrong side of history.”

NEW YORK — Police said someone attacked a statue of Sean “Diddy” Combs at Madame Tussauds wax museum in New York, shoving the rap impresario's likeness so forcefully it lost its head.
Investigators were continuing Monday to look for a suspect in the strange episode Saturday night.
Police say a man entered the museum near Times Square around 8:45 p.m., went to the statue and knocked it to the ground. The head fell off as the figure toppled.
Madame Tussauds New York said artists will fix the damage as quickly as possible to get the figure back to the museum's A-List Party Room.

CHICAGO — A stage musical about Michael Jackson will skip making its debut in Chicago and instead open on Broadway in summer 2020.
Producers said that “Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough” will no longer have pre-Broadway performances this fall in Chicago, blaming a recent Actors' Equity strike over compensation for developmental labs.
The musical is inspired by Jackson's life and music. Two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage is writing the book, using Jackson's vast catalog of songs. Tony Award winner Christopher Wheeldon will direct and choreograph.
