KC nips A-C Valley, 6-5

Derek Sadowski singled, doubled and drove in two runs to lead Karns City to a 6-5 high school baseball win over host A-C Valley Wednesday afternoon.

Ethan Williams pitched 6 2/3 innings for the win, striking out eight and walking two.

Brian Best came in to get the final out, a strikeout, for the save.

A-C Valley's Blayne McGuirk took the loss on the mound, but added three singles, a home run and three runs batted in.

In other action:

• Joe Holfelder struck out 10 and walked five in seven innings, earning the win for Moniteau in a 9-3 victory at North Clarion.

Heath Lominski tripled for the Warriors (7-6).

Despite two goals apiece from Brittney Miller, Casey Murdick and Bailey Kraus, Butler lost an 8-7 overtime decision to Vincentian.Megan Kunst added a score for Butler (11-7) and Cara Moses had 17 saves.
