The Slippery Rock defense held Corry to a mere 35 yards rushing and 127 total yards as the Rockets remained perfect in the region with a 21-12 road win over the Beavers Friday night.

Slippery Rock (4-1, 4-0) built a 14-6 lead at the half and was up 21-6 heading into the fourth quarter.

Quarterback Ryan Currie rushed for 60 yards on 16 carries and Sean White added 49 yards on 11 attempts for the Rockets.

As a team, Slippery Rock rushed for 210 yards on 57 carries.

Grove City 56, Meadville 7 — A region showdown turned into a region rout.Grove City rolled up 424 rushing yards and Wes Phipps scored four touchdowns as the Eagles dismantled the Bulldogs.Phipps scored on runs of 2, 5, 5 and 6 for Grove City (5-0, 3-0).Quarterback Tyler Dagres started things off with a 63-yard touchdown pass to Erik Record. Dagres finished 4-of-10 passing for 128 yards.Foster Reznor gained 112 yards on the ground on just nine carries and Phipps rolled up 129 yards on 17 rushing attempts.The Grove City defense limited Meadville to just 84 yards rushing.

Union 36, Clarion-Limestone 7 — Taylor Smith completed six of seven passes for 110 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 70 yards on 12 carries and two more scores to lead the Golden Knights .Smith tossed scoring passes to Brody Pollock and Cody Kline while Mikey Harris led Union (3-2, 1-2) with 91 yards rushing on 11 carries and a touchdown.Tristen Shaffer scored the Lions' (1-4, 1-2) only touchdown in the fourth quarter.

TennisButler's No. 1 doubles team of Courtney Gallagher and Abbey Turner defeated Hampton's No. 2 team of Soojin Yi and Margaret Douglass 10-2 in the opening round of the WPIAL AAA Section 2 Doubles Tournament before falling to Mars' No. 1 team of Kaitlyn Craig and Brianna beck 10-4 in the second round.Butler's No. 2 team of Laura Brestensky and Zoey McCafferty beat Pine-Richland's No. 2 squad of Katie Riley and Chrissy Spero 10-7, then were defeated in the second round by North Allegheny's No. 1 team of Kylie Isaacs and Becich 10-1.

Butler 213, North Allegheny 216 — Corey Morabito carded a 40 to pace the Tornado (8-4, 7-3) to the section win over the Tigers.
