George D. Long

George D. Long, 78, of Worthington died Thursday at the Butler Memorial Hospital in Butler.

He was born April 20, 1929, in New Kensington to Dale C. and Grace (Toy) Long.

Mr. Long attended the Furnace Run Chapel.

He worked as a printer for the Leader Times and then for the Butler Eagle.

He served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Armstrong County American Legion Honor Guard.

He was also a member of the former Kittanning Odd Fellows and the New Bethlehem Loyal Order of the Moose.

He is survived by his wife, Beverly J. (Dunn) Long, whom he married on July 5, 1958; a daughter, Tammy Johns and her husband, Jeffrey, of Worthington; a son, Jeffrey Long and his wife, Korinne, of Kittanning; a daughter, Lori Hoffman and her husband, Roger, of Worthington; seven grandchildren, Robert, William Zachery and Lindsay Long, Shannon and Sheena Johns, and Carly and Logan Hoffman; two brothers, Robert Long and his wife, Francis, of Vandergrift, and David Long and his wife, Martha, of Hillsboro, Ohio; and a sister, Diane Troutman and her husband, Duane, of Emlenton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Charles Long.

Long, who died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007, A memorial service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Worthington American Legion Hall with the Rev.
