State police release names of pedestrian, driver in 422 accident
FRANKLIN TWP — State police have released the names of the pedestrian and driver in a vehicle accident Thursday on Route 422 at Dick Road in the township.
Wanhu Chen, 56, of Franklin Township was injured shortly before 8 a.m. when a car struck her as she was walking along the side of the highway, police said.
She was taken by ambulance to Butler Memorial Hospital with suspected minor injuries. Emergency crews said she complained of hip and back pain after the accident.
Police said Chen walked in front of a Ford Fusion driven by Melissa A. Paule, 43, of Evans City, who was attempting to make a right turn onto Route 422 from Dick Road. Paule was not injured.
At the time of the accident, Chen was reportedly with two others who routinely walk along the side of Route 422 for exercise, authorities said.
The accident did not cause any traffic restrictions. No charges were filed.
The Prospect Volunteer Fire Department and Butler Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
