SV baseball game suspended in 3rd
UPPER ST. CLAIR TWP, Allegheny County — The WPIAL Quad A baseball semifinal playoff between Seneca Valley and Central Catholic was suspended Monday evening with the Raiders leading 2-0 in the bottom of the third inning after a 45-minute lightning delay at Boyce-Mayview Park.
The action will resume today at 4 p.m. at the same venue. Central Catholic has a runner on second base with two outs.
Matt Smith started on the mound for the Raiders, striking out one and walking one while giving up two hits.
The Vikings’ Dan Smith allowed both of Seneca’s runs in the top of the first inning. Jon Dorogy scored on a throwing error and Sam Fragale came home on Zach Spangler’s infield single.
SoftballJordan McCauley homered and Marie Bosch doubled, but Slippery Rock fell to Corry 8-2 Saturday in a District 10 Class AAA play-in game at Allegheny College.The Beavers took a 4-0 lead after 3 1/2 innings and never trailed.Stephanie Kotomski shouldered the loss, striking out one and walking one in seven innings in the circle.
