Mars girls soccer rolls to 15-0 rout,Butler volleyball wins tournament

Lydia Dennis netted five goals and Karli Paracca added three more to power Mars to a 15-0 girls soccer victory over Valley Saturday.

Amber Fitcher added two goals while Jordyn White, Olivia Haefner, Sabrina Edwards, Camille Cipkins and Shannon Doyle also scored for the Planets.

Knoch 5, Slippery Rock 1 — The Knights broke a halftime tie by scoring four times in the second half in this non-section win.

Kate Czekalski had two goals and an assist, Audra Hunter two goals and Gabi Lassinger one goal for Knoch.

Harley Boyd accounted for the Rockets' (0-4) lone tally.

Butler defeated Plum 2-0 in the championship game to capture the silver bracket crown at the Shaler Tournament on Saturday.Butler, which won 10 of 13 sets, defeated Chartiers-Houston and South Fayette by identical 2-0 scores in the early playoff rounds en route to the win.Butler will have three home matches this week — today against Shaler, Tuesday against North Allegheny and Thursday against Hampton.

Mars defeated Pittsburgh Obama Academy 5-0 in capturing the Pine- Richland Jim Kennedy Memorial Tournament to complete the two-day event.Noah Hudac, Ryan McMahon, Matt White, Spencer Posey and Joe Kelly each registered a goal in the championship.Nick Martinelli added two assists while Ed Brandt notched his first shutout in net.

The First Baptist Christian School volleyball team took first place out of six teams at the Erie NCSAA Great Lake's Classic Tournament.Noelle Garrison led the team with 59 aces, 35 kills and five blocks. Kenzi Uber added 45 serves and Hildi Burleigh 75 assists after two days of play.The girls had placed third earlier this year at the preseason Slippery Rock Baptist Camp Tournament.
