Mars boys soccer stays undefeated
The Mars boys soccer team (8-0) remained undefeated by beating Hopewell 3-0 on Saturday.
Matthew White, Nick Martinelli and Spencer Posey all tallied a goal in the victory, while White and Posey both contributed an assist.
Jesse Perfett and Ian McNany chipped in with solid efforts on defense.
Slippery Rock 2, East 2 — Cole McCandless scored a goal and added one assist for the Rockets. Evan Mysliwiec also scored, while Zach Latorre totaled five saves in the stalemate.
Hampton 2, Seneca Valley 1 — Jared Myers scored the lone goal for the Raiders (5-1).
Slippery Rock 4, Sharpsville 1 — The Rockets (1-4, 1-0) picked up their first win of the season by outscoring Sharpsville 3-1 in the second half.Harley Boyd, Ivy Sawyer, Ashley Hall and Haley Angerett each found the net in victory.Karns City 13, Keystone 0 — Emily LoPresti scored six goals for the Gremlins (5-0), while Breann Wood added three.Also finding the net were Maggie McKain, Megan Hegedus, Abby Wolfe and Morgan Deal.Deal and Emily Schumacher combined for the shutout in net, both stopping three shots.Butler 3, Knoch 0 — The Golden Tornado (4-2) received goals from Alexa Gray, Rachel Weyand and Rachel Pardo.Mackenzie Troyan earned the shutout.
Burrell 28, Summit Academy 22 — Summit Academy quarterback Chris Harp completed 10 of 12 passes for 127 yards and three touchdowns, but a 14-0 halftime deficit proved too much for the team to overcome.Javon Cooper, Doug Brooks and William Johnson were on the receiving end of Harp's scoring strikes.Cooper led Summit with 60 rushing yards on seven carries and defensive lineman Kenyatta McCloud paced the Knights with 10 tackles.
The Golden Tornado recently tallied wins over Shaler (4-2) and Baldwin (7-0). Scoring goals for Butler were Jace Stutz, Joel Stutz, Michael DiMartino, Devin Goehring, Andrew Chwalik and Ryan Pardo.
