SR track duo earns invite to state meet
Slippery Rock High's Aster Chmielewski placed second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.66 seconds at Saturday's Tri-State Indoor Track and Field Championship Meet at Edinboro University. The performance was good enough to qualify her for this weekend's state championship meet at Penn State University.
Also making the state event was Emily Campbell, whose toss of 37 feet, 8 inches in the shot put made the cut.
For Slippery Rock's boys, Shane Kirkwood broke two school records, one in the high jump (5-11, sixth place) and another in the 400-meter run with a time of 54.23 seconds.
The boys' distance relay team of Caleb Bickle, Josh Jones, Pat Anna and Andrew Maxwell also set a school record with a finish of 11:59.03.
